Made to stay put
A ribbed brass table lighter with a lift-arm action and a soft flame. Too substantial for a pocket, which is exactly the idea.
An object with a mechanism
Lift-Arm Action
Thumb the paddle and the arm swings the flame up. A sound you will come to like.
Soft Flame
A wide, gentle flame that toasts a foot evenly instead of scorching it.
Fuel Window
A slot cut into the side panel — you can see what is left without opening anything.
Adjustable Height
A knurled wheel sets the flame from a whisper to a full crown.
Lifetime Guarantee
Flint wheel, hinge and valve, repaired for as long as you own it.
Disposable lighters belong in a drawer, not on a table
A plastic lighter beside a good cigar undoes the whole moment. It skitters across the table, runs dry mid-toast, and there is no version of it worth leaving out where people can see it.
The Viscount earns its place on the desk
Two hundred grams of machined brass that stays where you set it, refills in seconds, and reads as part of the room rather than as something you meant to throw away.
A desk object, not a pocket one
Beside a notebook, a pen and an ashtray, it looks as though it has been there for years. The ribbed flank catches lamplight the way machined brass does — in lines rather than a sheen.
Lift, light, close
Lift the arm
Press the paddle with your thumb; the arm rises and strikes in one movement.
Set the flame
The knurled wheel raises or lowers the crown. Lower is better for toasting.
Close it down
Let the arm fall back. The flame snuffs itself as the cap seats.
Two hundred grams of machined alloy
Cast as one body and then machined — the ribbing is cut rather than pressed, which is why the edges stay crisp under a thumbnail and the flanks do not dent.

Boca against the cheap alternative
Still have questions?
Soft flame or torch?
Soft. It is the gentler of the two and better suited to toasting a foot slowly, which is what a table lighter is for.
Does it arrive filled?
No — lighters ship empty. Any standard butane refill works; fill from the valve on the base and let it settle a minute before striking.
Can I carry it in a pocket?
You can, but it was not designed for it. At 200 grams with a lift arm, it is happier on a desk or a side table.
What if the flint wears out?
Flints are consumable and replace from the base. The mechanism around them is covered by the lifetime guarantee.
